The HC Alliance promotes, and educates about, safety, dignity, respect, and acceptance for students of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions. We strive to create a welcoming, supportive atmosphere for all—be they gay, lesbian, straight, bisexual, transgender, or questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity.

  • The HC Alliance is a student-run group that is part of the Peer Education Umbrella Network (PUN) and strives to provide a safe environment for gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender people, and their Allies, while promoting understanding, education, and acceptance on the Hastings College campus.
  • The HC Alliance welcomes all HC students, staff, faculty and administration at its meetings and events. Members of the community can also attend the meetings as guests. Newcomers are always welcome, and those who come are never asked to discuss their own sexuality unless they choose to. All Alliance meetings are confidential.
  • The HC Alliance organizes events and speakers that often tie in with nationwide LGBT events, for example, "National Coming Out Day" in October, “Transgender Awareness Day” in November, "Day of Silence" in April, and June's "National Gay and Lesbian Awareness Month." In addition Alliance works to bring speakers, presentations, movies, entertainers and programs to Hastings College on a wide variety of topics including sexual orientation, equal rights for LGBT people, and other issues of concern to the LGBT community.
  • The HC Alliance often cooperates with local and national groups, such as the Hastings Chapter of PFLAG, the Nebraska-based group Citizens for Equal Protection, and nationally known organizations like GLSEN, the Gay-Lesbian-Straight Educator’s Network.
