Pride Prom Was a Ball

On Saturday, May 15,  Omahal LGBT youth and their allies celebrated at the sixth annual Tom Mahony Pride Prom.
This year’s theme was Black & White Ball. We were once again thrilled to see an increase in attendance. Three hundred and fourteen youth from surrounding high schools, colleges and middle schools came to the prom, a five percent increase over last year.

Chief medical officer seeks compromise language on sexual orientation referals

The January meeting of PFLAG-Cornhusker customarily brings information on legislation and public policy. Laurel Marsh, Executive Director of ACLU Nebraska, and Tyler Richard noted highlights of the past year and items for action in 2010. Ms. Marsh reported ACLU’s success in working with the Department of Motor Vehicles to change the way DMV personnel work with transgender persons to request a change of gender designation on a driver’s license.

DMV Changes Policies for Trans Drivers

After many reports that transgender people were facing unreasonable requests for personal information at the desk of the DMV, ACLU Nebraska stepped in to work on the issue. "We heard some people were told they couldn't have the gender marker changed on their driver's license unless they'd had surgery on their genitals.
